Steel Bridge Skatepark Coalition

Skatepark Advocates, Community Organizers, and Business folk in Portland, OR have been actively fighting to get a skatepark built in Old Town since the 90s. My role was to bring in diverse QTBIPOC experiences and voices in skating. Since 2023, I have been fortunate to be a part of the Steel Bridge Skatepark team. I was able to speak on behalf of the coalition with media relations to promote the project, as well as secure letters of support from organizations like The Skatepark Project. Toward the end of 2023, we met with policymakers and City Commissioner Dan Ryan to advocate for the park, resulting in the decision to allocate $ 15 million in funding for the building of the Steel Bridge Skatepark.
