UTOPIA PDX Inaugural Fundraiser

Pasifika Benefit

Pasifika Benefit: Navigating The Night - A Voyage to Expansion was our first-ever gala for UTOPIA PDX. This was an opportunity to showcase our community, culture, and programmatic impact to donors and sponsors. For our first gala, we reached 100% of our $50k fundraising goal and secured the support of 34 sponsors and donors.

  • Social Media was our main strategy for marketing our event to our community and funders. Our platforms of choice were Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

  • Community members and donors heavily traffic our website. Pasifika Benefit campaign information was maintained and tracked through our website. This landing page was treated as a hub for organizations and donors to access our fundraising campaign, ticketing site, and sponsorship and event information.

  • Early on our Development team decided on using Give Butter as our nonprofit fundraising campaign platform. We utilized the site to sell tickets, share campaign progress, and host our live auction. Folks were able to donate directly through Give Butter to support Pasifika Benefit. Utilizing Give Butter allowed us to fully integrate their widgets into our website interface to promote , sell tickets, and share day of info.

  • Some of my main tasks were to design, print, and create all event content leading into the gala and what was showcased the day of. This included our programs, signage, and promotional materials.

Our Queer & Trans Pacific Islander (QTPI) community is full of diverse identities, perspectives, and experiences. The impact UTOPIA PDX has been able to make waves in our people’s lives. By interviewing community members with leading questions, we were able to express the importance of our work by trying to help funders and donors understand QTPIs’ individual experiences, impact, and lessons.
